Privacy Policy

1. The short version

• Your farm book stays on your phone. Kisan Hisab works fully offline. Your entries, crops, parties, workers, attendance, contracts, photos and bills are saved on your phone.
• We do not sell your data.
• Optional services:
  • Google Drive backup saves a copy in your own Google Drive. We cannot open it.
  • Cloud Sync (Pro) keeps a copy of your book, and of the bill photos and documents you add to it, on our server and on your other phones signed in to the same account, but only if you turn it on.
  • Sharing a book: you can invite family or a munim to work in your book from their own phone.
• What we do receive:
  • crash reports and basic app-usage statistics, to keep the app working;
  • if adverts are shown, the advert service receives some device information.
• You can delete your account and its cloud copy from inside the app, or by asking for it by email: see khetihisab.com/delete-account.

2. What is on your phone

Everything you write in Kisan Hisab is stored in the app's private storage on your phone. This includes:

• money entries and payments;
• crop seasons;
• parties, workers and attendance;
• contracts and notes;
• the photos and bills you attach.

It is not visible to other apps, and it is not sent to us unless you turn on Cloud Sync.

Contacts. When you add a party, you may pick a person from your phone's contacts to fill in their name and number. Only the contact you pick is read, and it is saved in your book. We do not upload your contact list.

Camera, photos and files. These are used only when you attach a photo, bill or document to a record, or choose a backup file.

Notifications. Reminders are set on your phone. If you use Cloud Sync or a shared book, our server can also send you a notification, for example when someone joins your book. For this, your phone gives us a notification token through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. The notification never includes your records. You can turn notifications off in your phone's settings.

3. Google Drive backup (optional)

If you connect Google Drive, the app saves backups of your book in a private app folder of your Google Drive (drive.appdata). We cannot see these files. Google's privacy policy applies to your Google account. You can disconnect Drive at any time.

4. Your account and Cloud Sync (optional)

• Signing in: you can sign in with Google or Apple. It is free and optional. You do not need an account to use the app, and signing in alone does not upload your records.
• Cloud Sync (Pro): if you turn it on, your book is kept up to date on our server and on your other phones signed in to the same account.
• What we keep:
  • your account: your name, email address and Google or Apple sign-in identifier;
  • the phones you sign in on, with the platform, the app version and the time of the last sync;
  • a copy of your book's records on our server.
• Your phones: in Settings, Your phones lists the phones signed in to your account. You can remove any of them. A removed phone stops syncing within an hour and keeps its own copy of your book.
• Photos and bills: with Cloud Sync on, the bill photos and documents you add from the photo update on are uploaded with your book, so they reach your other phones and the people you share the book with. Before upload, a photo is made smaller and its location (GPS) and other hidden details are removed. A file too big for backup, and anything added before that update, stays only on your phone. The files are stored with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Mumbai, India. When you delete a photo or a record, its file is deleted from our storage within a few days.
• Where: the copy is kept on servers we operate in India.
• What it is for: keeping your book safe and letting you get it back on a new phone. We do not use your records for advertising.
• Sharing a book: if you invite someone, they can see and change everything in that book, including its photos and bills, from their own phone and account. Everyone in the book sees each person's name and photo from Google or Apple, and an entry shows who added it. Email addresses are not shown to others. The owner can remove anyone, and anyone can leave. A person who is removed or leaves keeps no access to the cloud copy.
• Turning it off: your book stays on your phone. You can remove the cloud copy: it is deleted 30 days after you ask.
• Workers' details: the names and details of workers and parties you enter are part of your book. You decide what to enter; we keep them only to provide the service.

5. Your Pro purchase

Pro is bought through Google Play or the App Store. It belongs to the store account that bought it. On a new phone, tap Restore purchases with the same store account to bring it back.

Purchases are handled by Google Play or the App Store, and by RevenueCat, our purchase service. To manage your Pro plan, RevenueCat receives:

• a purchase identifier;
• your purchase history;
• the name, email and phone number you enter in your profile, if you enter them, so we can help you with a purchase.

We do not receive your card or payment details. Deleting your Kisan Hisab account does not cancel a store subscription: cancel it in the store.

6. Crash reports and statistics

We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports, and Firebase Analytics for basic statistics, such as app opens and the app version. These include a device identifier and technical details about your phone. They never include what your records say.

7. Adverts

When adverts are shown, they come from Google AdMob and its partners. These receive your device's advertising identifier and technical details to show and measure adverts. On iPhone you are asked before tracking is allowed. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your phone's settings. Pro removes adverts.

8. App updates and settings

The app checks our server for updates and for which features are switched on. These checks send only the app's name, the platform (Android or iPhone) and the app version. They do not include your records or a device identifier.

9. Support

If you write to us from the app, the email includes your Support ID and technical details, so we can help. We use them only to answer you.

10. How long we keep data

• On your phone: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
• Cloud Sync:
  • while you use it;
  • if your Pro plan ends, the cloud copy is kept and sync pauses, and we tell you before any deletion;
  • if you remove the cloud copy or delete your account, it is deleted 30 days later.
• Legal retention: where the law requires us to keep some records, such as logs, we keep only what is required, separately, for the required period, and then delete it.

11. Deleting your account

In the app: Settings, Delete account, at the bottom. Without the app, follow the steps at khetihisab.com/delete-account to ask for it by email.

• Waiting period: your account is marked for deletion and you are signed out. For 30 days you can change your mind by signing in again.
• What is deleted after 30 days:
  • your account;
  • your books' cloud copies;
  • their files.
• What is not affected: the books on your phone are not affected, and neither is your Pro plan.

12. Your rights

You can ask us to see, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw your consent to Cloud Sync, by writing to the contact above. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

13. Children

Kisan Hisab is meant for farmers and their families running a farm. It is not directed at children under 18.

14. Security

Data on our server is sent over encrypted connections and kept on access-controlled systems. Files are kept private and are reached only through short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone locked.

15. Changes

When this policy changes, we will show it in the app before it applies, and you may be asked to accept the new version.
